Hydrogeological conditions effect on safety of underground space expansion during transport tunnel construction

Article preview

The estimation of main factors which exerts influence upon functioning reliability of system «tunnels – underground space» is executed. It is shown that hydrogeological conditions have a special importance for construction and maintenance of subway tunnels in Saint-Petersburg. The hydrodynamic effect of regional and local water-bearing horizons on development and activation of different processes such as groundwaters flow, quicksands, head water inrush, underground constructions deformation is analyzed. The influence of hydrochemical conditions on formation of underground space aggressiveness to constructional and waterproofing materials of the tunnels is established. The negative effect of underground microbiota activity on degradation of reinforced concrete and castiron tunnel lining is shown.

The Article contains the suggestions to assign the status of natural-technical systems functionating in the global rotation-pulsatory regime, to the objects of underground space, i,e, underground structures of water-supply system, electric power system, gas and  heat-supply systems, to the metro structures, underground spaces of coal mines and ore mines and other technological complexes, and to assign the natural-technogeneous status to geodynamic phenomena occurring at these objects, i.e. breakage of pipelines with explosions and burning oydrocarbons, gushing of boiling water and rocks, deformation of tunnel walls and the metro stations causing leakage, etc., which takes account of a temporary natural component in dynamics of geospheres being attributed to vibratory rotation-pulsatory regimes of the Earth  by contrast to the acting status of these events as technogeneous phenomena, with no taking account of dynamics of the planet in variations of cosmic weather.

Formation of stressed state in temporary tunnel support when constructing a traffic tunnel of north caucasus railway near the slope

Article preview

The paper presents the results of field observations on formation of stressed state in shotcrete temporary tunnel support when constructing a traffic tunnel of NCRW near the slope. Numerical simulation of stressed deformed state of the «support – block» system has been accomplished for the considered engineering geological conditions. The results obtained point to a possibility of developing the procedure of calculating supports based on results of field observations under comparable conditions in combination with SDS modeling applying finite-element method adapted for specific  conditions.

Settlement-free technologies in the construction of the Saint Petersburg subway

Article preview

Everywhere in Saint Petersburg the top strata are represented  by quaternary deposits, and  the ground water level is approximately 2,5 m down from the surface. Below the quaternary deposits, at depths of 40 to 60 m, are Cambrian (Proterozoic) clays. There are many ancient buildings of a historic and architectural value on the day surface that cannot tolerate day surface settlements. The construction of underground stations, and especially inclined escalator tunnels, causes surface settlements. Technologies of construction of escalator tunnels and station tunnels have been developed in Saint Petersburg to minimize such day surface settlements.

Historical analysis of the system of estimation and expert’s examination of explored ore reserves in Russia

Article preview

Acting in Russia methodology of estimation and expert’s examination of calculated mineral reserves has been organized in the Soviet period, during development of the rigidly centralized system of the state planning and management. Since, 20 years there isn’t in the country any state monopoly (and financing) in the mining brunch and geological exploration. The new approaches are needed in procedure of estimating mineral reserves explored by the private enterprises. Anyway, functions, which the State Commission on mineral reserves (SCR) used to carry out in the Soviet time, remain nearly the same at present. Its full-scale authority, obligatory specifications are in clear contradiction with real economic relationship in the country.  Computer modeling of ore bodies, composed on the base of geostatistical analysis of the exploration data, determines their natural contours and the ore grade distribution far more precisely than the formal index of the reserve’s category. There isn’t any necessity to approve in the SCR the so called group of the ore deposit complexity, nor the Technical-economic validation of limiting conditions. The mere procedure of the state approval of explored ore reserves ought to have the record keeping character.

Statistical evaluation of the energy rates of the surface miner MTS-250 (Germany)

Article preview

Statistical estimation and statistical modeling of screw and cutter dynamic system that controls operation of the screw and vibrological impulsator of the surface miner of the type MTS-250 (Germany) is given. The statistical modeling is carried out using a digital model developed by the author as of the whole system and its individual components. This allows to vary the operating parameters of the surface miner and to evaluate the energy input per amount of the mined rock during the time of its work. This will eventually minimize the operating parameters of the surface miner.
