Article preview

Having used electron microscopy permits and microanalysis systems researched typomorphic features of the zircons from Verchneurmijsky granite massif in Priamurye. Crosscutting study of the zircon crystal morphology and ultimate  composition  to predict peculiar  properties of mineragenesis conditions and afford opportunity to draw sharp disjunction of zircon features from different intrusive phases. Features of the zircons can be used at regional partition of intrusive formations and searches of rare-metal granites.

Distribution of rare earth elements in ores Elov and Buructal supergene nickel deposits

Article preview

Weathering processes and infiltration metasomatic processes in the weathering crusts hyperbasite arrays have a positive effect  on  the accumulation  of rare earth  elements. The content of rare earth elements is steadily increasing bottom-up on the profile of weathering.  Metasomatic upper profile characterized by a high content  of rare earth  elements, which leads to  the appearance of rare earth elements phosphate mineral phase – xenotime found in this laterite for the first time. The composition of the rare earth elements in incorporating their metasomatic and minerals demonstrates chondritic distribution.

Effect of potassium on the solubility of aluminum hydroxide in alkaline aluminate solutions аnd their decomposition

Article preview

Materials of calculation of solubility of aluminum hydroxide in the system Na2O – K2O – Al2O3 – H2O, by data of the solubility in the private sections of this system for a wide range of compositions aluminate solutions by the content of alkaline components are  presented. It  is shown that the solubility of aluminum hydroxide in the range of concentration of alkaline components from 1,29 mol/l to 1,94 mol/l is a linear function of the mol fraction of one of them. The results of experimental researches on decomposition of aluminate solutions are given. Significant increase of the degree of decomposition of aluminate solutions in per cents of the theoretical values with growth of mol fraction of K2O in  a mixture of alkaline components has been established.

Diagnostics of potentially dangerous defects in dielectric materials

Article preview

The paper presents a number of experimental techniques for detecting in amorphous tantalum oxide films structural defects, which accelerate film destruction processes in a strong electric field and thus are potentially dangerous under prolonged thermoelectric stresses applied to capacitor structures.  It is shown that the anomalous frequency dependence of dielectric losses and increase of the leakage current over time can identify potentially unreliable capacitors.

Heritage of the brick or information embedded in the brick from historical viewpoint

Article preview

Brick is the oldest building material except stone and wood. A cob brick with added sliced straw served as a constructional material in many ancient countries. Using of burnt brick is also dated from ancient times (it was utilized in Egypt, Mesopotamia and Ancient Rome in 3-2 century B.C.). First brick constructions in Russia (fortified walls, temples, towers and stoves) appeared in IV century. Then, in XI-XII centuries, thin and very heavy plates of different sizes («plinphes») were used and in XV century a modern bar-shaped brick has appeared. That time is associated with the flourishing of «brick craft». In 1475 the architect Aristotle Fioravanti was invited into Moscow from Italy to build the Kremlin. The paper  is  devoted  to the history  of brick as an ancient building material and to the birth of brick   collection.

Method of measurement of anisotropic electron velocity distribution function

Article preview

The method  of local anisotropic plasma has been  developed. The mathematical apparatus  of the method for rapid analysis of the  degree  of anisotropy  electron  distribution  function,  as one of the main characteristics of anisotropic plasma has been proposed. It has been  demonstrated that the degree of anisotropy of the plasma can be determined only by the form of the IU  curve (the second derivative of probe current to the probe potential). The possibilities of the method in area of reconstruction of the  full  distribution  function have been illustrated.

Nanotechnologies in modern plasma energetics

Article preview

Fundamental research in the field of plasma energetics provides a new opportunity  to achieve high efficiency of thermionic converters (TIC). The interelectrode gap of such TICs contains the condensate of excited states (CES), consisting of up to 1000 excited Cs atoms in the form of a plasma crystal (Rydberg  matter). In a laboratory TIC with Cs CES the efficiency of ~25 % was registered by emitter’s tem- perature ТЕ ~1600 К and collector’s temperature ТС  ~700 К.  A  unique combination  of low  TE and high efficiency of the system provides a prospect to implement such systems in small nuclear energetics. The results were obtained with SSC RF – Institute for Physics and Power Engineering (Obninsk).

Microplasma analytical sensor for gas mixtures diagnostics

Article preview

Theoretical consideration of collision electron spectroscopy (CES) for gaseous media analysis and experimental results on CES detector are presented. It is demonstrated that a diffusion path confinement for characteristic electrons provides a  possibility to measure electrons energy distribution function and to find characteristic spectra of species at high (up to atmospheric) gas pressure. Simple micro-plasma CES detector of two plane parallel electrode configuration with  current-voltage measurement in afterglow of helium glow discharge may be designed to operate at a high gas pressure up to atmospheric one. Experimental electron energy spectra of pair He metastables collisions in dependence of interelectrode gap are discussed.

Use of power action of electric field for temporary and permanent connection of materials

Article preview

Physical processes that lead to the emergence of large forces of attraction between bodies, joined by anodic bonding technology result from the large electric fields strengths at the contact interface. Nondestructive method of monitoring the strength of obtained conductor-to ionic dielectric anodic bonding seals is based on the relationship between the dependence of current versus time flowing in the formation of seals and the strength of  the  resulting seals. Theoretically justified a new technological method for nondestructive testing of  high-quality anodic bonding seals. The results obtained are confirmed experimentally.

In 1826 two unique icons were delivered to Saint Petersburg Mining Cadet corps from Zlatoust. They were named composed icons because of their  background  composed  of different  Ural stones. These icons have become the objects of the historical analysis which results are presented in this article. The documents which are kept in the Saint Petersburg and Zlatoust archives served as a basis for icons history reconstruction. The article describes the story of malachite and corund blocks delivery to the museum of the Cadet corps. This story is based on the information which was found in the one of archival documents.

Revealed a synergistic effect associated with an increase in anti-friction and water resistance after processing mixtures Al-powder brands PAP-2 pairs of cation active preparations alkamon and triamon. According to the acoustic method in the tribological pair with a lubricantfilled Al/(A + T), anti-friction properties than in a pair with a lubricant-filled Al/T, and Al/A.
