The isotopic composition of sulphate formed by pyrite oxidation experiments – the influence of pyrite grain size
- Authors:
- Claudia Heidel
Oxygen and sulphur isotopes of sulphate formed by oxidation of different pyrite grain size fractions were investigated to understand oxidation mechanisms and their dependency on grain size. Both oxygen and sulphur isotope compositions indicate different oxidation mechanisms for fine and coarser pyrite grain sizes. Oxidation mechanisms with atmospheric oxygen as the oxidant seem to be more important for the finest grain size fraction < 63 µm compared to coarser grain sizes. The isotopic composition of sulphate formed by experiments with the coarser grain size fractions 63-100 µm, 100-140 µm, and 140-180 µm do not differ among each other in spite of varying surface areas. Presumably, the lack of highly reactive fine material results in similar oxidation mechanisms.

Zinc sorption on montmorillonite
- Authors:
- Ondrej Kozak
Montmorillonite is a clay mineral from the group of phyllosilicates with laminated structure and permanent negative charge on the layers surface, which fact can be used for sorption of cations or ion exchange reactions. In this project, the exchange of zinc ions for sodium ions in interlayers is examined. For batch experiments the sodium form of montmorillonite was used. Different zinc salts were used: nitrate, sulphate and acetate. The results show that adsorption process can be described with Langmuir-Freundlich or Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Maxima of adsorbed amounts were 1,08 ± 0,07 meq∙g-1 ; 1,25 ± 0,32 meq∙g-1 and 0,86 ± 0,03 meq∙g-1 in case of nitrate; sulphate and acetate respectively. The pH value of solutions increased during the adsorption except from acetate, where a small decrease can be observed.

Method of research of influence of deposit eccentricity on minimum current stripping volumes
The article studies the influence of the mineral body offsetting on the schedule of current volumes of overburden stripping. This issue has not been specially studied in previous publications by various authors. The issue of replacing areas by linear sections making up the pit walls has been justified in calculation of the current overburden volumes in cross-sectional plan. A corresponding dependence has been received in order to create a schedule for minimal current overburden volumes and a schedule for changes in current volumes depending on the rising depth. The proposed approach helps to establish general regularities which can be used in selecting parameters and directions of mining operations.

Justification of optimal parameters of associated minerals stockpiles
- Authors:
- M. M. Yakubovsky
- G. A. Kholodnyakov
The majority of mineral deposits are complex, i.e. composed of various minerals. In this case not only the main commercial mineral is mined, but also a number of co-products. As a rule, it is possible to achieve stable extraction of the main mineral, the concentration plant efficiency being directly depended on this issue. Production of co-products is a variable value as it is dependant on the direction and mode of mining operations. This results in disturbances in the concentration plant operation. Extraction of useful minerals from the ore is decreasing. Thus, production of coproducts should be stabilized through storing primary materials at storage areas. Such intermediate storages play an essential role in enhancing the ore grades. The paper offers a method to calculate basic parameters of storages for associated mineral products.

Well-being of Russia and its economic and research potential are originally dependant on the development of the mineral and primary raw material complex. The mineral market has become more competitive, which requires innovative approaches in management as economic and market criteria are becoming critically important and the need for flexibility is rising. Quite often external conditions force modern mining companies to transform into more complex entities. New methods and procedures which would be meeting both internal and external needs of the mining enterprise are required to secure control over these complexes. The system of monitoring introduce at a mining company is one of such mechanisms. This system helps to carry out regular assessment of the mineral balance of the company, to shape prospects of the company’s development, to develop investment plans for unforeseen complications and to work out strategies to help the company reach its targets and transform potential threats into its advantages.

In presented paper the model for economical and reliability based maintenance system of electric power distribution system is considered. This model considers the age based reliability of every distribution component of the power system. In our research the restricted test network is analyzed and the optimum reinvestment point of the whole network is found. The investment period of the single component is compared to the investment period of the whole network. In our research neither linear nor nonlinear optimization algorithm is used. The reason is that our test network is so small that it doesn’t take to much computing time to go through all valid investment alternatives.

Monitoring on-line by the stability of the Кalman filter used in the vectorial control system for the speed of an induction motor
- Authors:
- Nadia Stoicuta
- Olimpiu Stoicuta
In the paper we present the stability study of the Kalman estimator used in a vectorial drive system of an induction motor with short-circuited rotor. We consider that the control system for speed is a vectorial system with direct orientation after the rotor flux (DFOC). Although there are suggestive experimental results, the implementation of such a system containing a Kalman filter generates serious problems because of the tuning of the covariant matrixes of the measurement noise and the process noise. Also the solving of the Riccati equations in real time is difficult. These problems, as well as the simplifier hypothesis from the determination of the mathematical model on the states space of the induction motor and the modification of the rotor resistance by temperature lead to the decrease of the estimator and control system performances. Therefore you must implement an algorithm for research of the estimator stability. This algorithm has to hold count of the sampling step of sundries processors used in the drives command. The stability study is done by the determination of the transition matrix poles.

Small speed asymptotic stability study of a speed vector control system for an induction motor that contains in its loop a Gopinath observer
- Authors:
- Olimpiu Stoicuta
- Nadia Stoicuta
- Teodor Pana
In this paper we analyze the asymptotic stability of a vector control system for an induction motor with short-circuited rotor that contains in its loop a Gopinath observer. The studied control system is based on the direct rotor flux orientation method (DFOC) and the stability study is based upon the linearization theorem around the equilibrium points of the control system, emphasizing the estimated variation domain of the rotor resistance for which the control system remains asymptotically stable when the prescribed speed of the control system is close to zero. The stability study is made in both the continual and discrete cases. The mathematical model of the vector regulating system is made using a value dle–qle linked to stator current. In order to mathematically describe the DFOC control system we will consider the following hypotheses: the static frequency converter (CSF) is assumed to contain a tension inverter; the static frequency converter is considered ideal so that the vector of the command measures is considered to be the entry vector of the induction motor; the dynamic measure transducers are considered ideal; the system and axis transformation blocks are considered dynamically ideal; the mathematical model of the vector control system will be written in an dle–qle axis reference bounded to the stator current.

Automatic system of stabilization of sulphur production from waste gases of autogenous generators
- Authors:
- K. M. Botviniev
Vanyukov's process of extraction is an autogenous method for sulfide concentrates of nonferrous metals. Melting is accomplished in a specially designed furnace and is accompanied by generating sulfur dioxide bearing off-gases. Different sulfur removal methods are used to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, of which the Claus process is the most significant process of gas desulfurizing. The efficiency of a typical Claus process can achieve as much as 80% of sulfur recovery. However, the existing control system enables achievement of not more than 60- 70% efficiency due to lack of an adequate process model. The paper presents an automated control system which is based on a fuzzy model of sulfur dioxide recovery.

Increase of efficiency of methods of sludge pits reclamation
- Authors:
- M. M. Malyshkin
One of the most critical environmental problems of the oil industry in Russia is contamination with drilling waste that has a negative impact on the living conditions of people, animals and plants. The paper offers techniques to reclaim drilling mud sumps and enhancing their efficiency. Drilling mud sumps are pits dug on the territory of drilling sites and filled with drilling waste. The problem with reclamation of drilling mud sumps can be solved through forest recultivation, i.e. planting trees over the sumps. In order to further enhance recultivation it is offered to use carboxymethyl cellulose, which will create a protective coating on the seed surface, and to perform engineering recultivation before planting seeds.
