Application of indicator kriging in computer modeling of ferruginous quartzite occurrences (on the example of Yakovlevskoye deposit)

Article preview

Interpolation of iron grades of ores of the Yakovlevskoye deposit using MultipleIndicator Kriging method allowed taking into consideration mixed accumulations, which had been identified using statistical analysis of iron grade distributions of iron-rich ores. Using Indicator Kriging, there was carried out probabilistic logging of different ore types (paint, blueing) and barren rocks within the bounds of the first-priority development zones of the Yakovlevskoye deposit. That allowed taking into consideration density values of different ore types by reserve estimation.

Prospective assessment of the Topazovsky site (Amur region) for native gold

Article preview

The Topazovsky area was investigated as. Its position is very favorable. It is situated in the industrially developed region in some kilometers from the Trans-Siberian Railroad. Proximity to the Pokrovsky mine makes it possible to regard the area as an additional source of raw materials for the Pokrovsky ore mining and processing enterprise. Metallogenic analysis was carried out and the classification of gold-ore deposits of the Amur region was made to evaluate the Topazovsky area. The classification included the regional and local characteristics of nine gold ore deposits. These deposits were evaluated on the basis their geotectonic position, structural and formation types of the province, structural position of ore field and ore controlling structure, enclosing rock, morphological type of mineralization and their belonging to an ore formation.

Article preview

During many years the major task of seismic researches was studying a relief of basic reflecting borders. Today with the advent of and development of new methodic technological decisions, introduction of powerful high-speed computer complexes, fast rates of growth amounts of works 3D before seismic- explorer the problem is construction of detailed geological model of the area displaying internally a structure of sedimentary objects is put. Now already at a search stage it’s necessary to know such parameters of environment, as porosity, sedimentology, fluid-saturation. Construction of the fullest model of environment provides planning the optimum scheme of development deposits and reduces risk at explorative drilling. Most effectively problems of forecasting specified petrophysical characteristics of a geological section are solved according to seismic prospecting on the basis of the analysis seismic attributes, wave inversion, the AVO-analysis.

Peculiarities of internal structure of feldspars in granites of Salma massif

Article preview

Some samples of rapakivi granites from Salmi massif (Karelia) were investigated. The inner structure and the composition of feldspars in granites are necessary for understanding of the crystallization paths of this rock. X-ray diffractometry, cathode luminescence (CL) and microprobe analyzes were used in this study. It was found, that alkali feldspar from rapakivi granites is mixture of monoclinic and triclinic phases, and the ratio of these phases is various for different types of granites. A mirmektite zone corresponding of quartz-feldspar eutectic composition is typical for large ovoid crystals. CL and microprobe detected a compositional zoning and two types of albitization in plagioclases.

Comparative approach in cost estimation of quartz sand deposit of Leningrad region

Article preview

The comparative way is based on the idea that the lot’s price can be defined by the analysis of the transactions with the lots that have the same characteristics. This method includes following operations: observing the transactions with the objects similar to the current one; revealing the links between prices and characteristics; calculating the most appropriate price that can be paid for the lot which is being evaluated. The evaluators’ poll, organized by Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, revealed that the comparative method is one of the most popular ways of practical evaluation. This approach has many advantages, such as: clean logic and convincing results in case of having enough data on similar transactions; easy check of initial data; low labor-intensiveness. The basic disadvantage of the comparative approach is that it can be used in terms of having all necessary information about similar lots that has been transacted in the same commercial conditions only.

Strong current voltage converter

Article preview

Every year volume of energy consumption is increasing all over the world, but the number of sources is descending, either because of shortage of resources (oil, coal, gas) or because of problems related to their mining and processing (uranium). Scientific research on new strain converters, which could give both high coefficient of efficiency and work in extreme conditions, is still being carried on. So we need something more stable, than semiconductor electronics, in order to build nuclear power plants of new generation, build sea-vessels and starships with self-sufficient energy supply. This work represents data, obtained within a research on anisotropic plasma generated by thermo-emission converter. The main problem being discussed is the profitability and possibility of using and involving thermo-emission converters in our modern plasma energetic, e.g. as a power switch.

Kinetics of short glow discharges taking into account non-local ionization

Article preview

Analytic model for estimating main parameters of the shot glow discharges is presented. Proposed model takes into account as the electrons production in cathode sheath as nonlocal ionization in the negative glow plasma. According the traditional approach, discharge is dividing on different areas by means visual analysis. Discharge gap is dividing on volume charge sheath and quasi-neutral plasma in presented model. Plasmas areas comprise negative glow, Faraday dark space and positive column. Simple expressions for main glow discharge characteristics (voltagecurrent characteristic, cathode sheath) as well as plasmas density profile without volume recombination are deduced. Finding results satisfactorily correspond to the experimental data. Traditional Enghel – Shteenbek model (witch founded on local approach) gives more considerable disar[1]rangement with experiment.

German and British tanks in North Africa during the Second World War

Article preview

The battle for North Africa was a struggle to control the Suez Canal and get access on oil from the Middle East and raw materials in Asia. Oil in particular had become a critical strategic commodity due to the increased mechanization of modern armies. Britain, which was the first major nation to field a completely mechanized army, was particularly dependent on the Middle East oil. The Suez Canal also provided Britain with a valuable link to it overseas colonies: part of the lifeline that ran through the Mediterranean Sea. Thus, the North African campaign and the naval campaign to control the Mediterranean were virtually very closely linked to each other.

Enrichment of fine and fine gold

Article preview

In connection with gradual reduction of reserves of gold-bearing ores, in processing ores with lower maintenance gold that leads to necessity to search for new ways of an intensification of processes of extraction of thin and small gold from ores start to be involved. One of such ways is an application of an ionic exchange which in a combination to cyanic process and other ways of enrichment allows to raise the general extraction of precious metals. These questions it is considered on an example of the concrete concentrating factory processing gold-bearing ores of deposit of Thumal (Mali).

Side lining of aluminum electrolyzer from silicon carbide

Article preview

It’s offering replacement coal blocks of side potlining of electrolysis bath on silicon carbide slabs. Expediently to use silicon carbide blocks because they have the advantage of coal blocks: higher oxidation stability, higher real resistance, higher physical strength. Using these advantages in electrolysis baths renders possible: to reduce oxygen demand of side potlining surface; raise incorrodibility of side blocks on interracial metal-electrolytic conductor; to reduce saturation degree side blocks by fluorides from electrolytic conductor; to reduce current drain through the side potlining; to control skull degree growing superiorly. The result is following: increasing durability of electrolytic furnace without pot relining from 48 until 72 months.
