Problems of prediction of loads on linings and stability of operated tunnels

Article preview

The results of in-situ measurements of vertical displacements of the tunnel lining of the St. Petersburg subway are presented. The 3d-model of interaction between soil and tunnel lining subjected to initial geostatic stress state is considered, and vertical displacements of the lining along the tunnel are used as an additional boundary condition. The calculated tangential stresses in the lining are compared with in-situ results of crack zone formation.

Numerical modeling of the stress-strain state of the overpass tunnel lining in the zone of their mutual influence

Article preview

Numerical modeling by finite element method of stress-strain state of lining of subway tunnels in the zone of their mutual influence has been carried out. The tunnels are not parallel to each other, have different depths and were driven at different times. Two experimental sites were selected for modeling, corresponding to the sites where field observations were made. The use of the finite element method allowed to solve the problem in a volumetric setting and to take into account the complex configuration of the tubes, the layering of the massif and the stages of tunnel construction.

Calculation of the parameters of the anchorage passport for the preparatory workings with the wire rope anchors in the conditions of the Vorkuta Mine

Article preview

The practice of anchoring roofs with anchors is based mainly on an empirical approach - the trial and error method. The theory of anchoring is more descriptive than mathematical. Due to the complexity of geological, mining and technical conditions of underground workings, it is very difficult to describe mathematically the destruction of the roof of the workings reinforced with anchors. Nevertheless, even qualitative identification of the factors causing the destruction of the edge parts of the coal seam and, as a consequence, the roof collapse, can provide justification for the development of the anchoring passport and safety improvement.

Methodical aspects of estimation of the influence of geomechanical states of coal-bearing massifs on their filtration characteristics

Article preview

The article summarizes the main factors that should be taken into account when developing a methodology to take into account the relationship between the geomechanical state of the rock formation and its filtration properties. The main approaches to solving such problems and their disadvantages are analyzed. The results of the research allow us to establish a functional relationship between the deformation-stress state of the rock formation and its gas permeability. The relationship is based on the analysis of volumetric deformation of the formation and its influence on the filtration characteristics of the medium.

Some data on the causes of structural failure of underground structures in St. Petersburg

Article preview

The main natural and anthropogenic factors determining the nature and mechanics of fractures of deep underground tunnel structures lining are considered. On the basis of the conducted research in underground excavations the systematization of the main forms of destruction is carried out. The composition of water extracts prepared from the destroyed concrete and various forms of neoplasms was investigated. Determination of the number and types of microorganisms - micro-mycetes, bacteria and actinomycetes - was carried out. Based on the results of experimental studies, a conclusion is made about the role of biocorrosion in the destruction of tubing and waterproofing jacket. Particular attention is paid to the impact of pressure water of the Lower Kotlin aquifer, which creates favorable conditions for the development of microbiota and its aggressive effect on structural materials.

Influence of engineering, geological and geo-ecological conditions on deformation and corrosion processes in transportation tunnels in St. Petersburg

Article preview

The main natural and anthropogenic factors forming the specificity of environmental conditions in the underground environment, which affects the development of deformations and corrosion processes of transportation tunnels, are considered. Natural factors include radon intake, the presence of buried bogs and marshy rocks. Technogenic factors of underground space pollution are household dumps, sewage system leaks, cemeteries. On the example of some transit tunnels it is shown that engineering-geological and hydrogeological conditions, as well as geo-ecological situation determine the peculiarities of functioning of these structures. It is noted that the destruction of tunnel materials occurs mainly due to the biochemical factor.

Causes of formation of temporarily inoperable quarry sides and methods of their preservation by means of creation of bulk prism

Article preview

To prevent the undesirable occurrence of non-working leases and their exploitation, it is necessary to systematize and analyze the reasons for their creation. It is reasonable to divide the causes of temporary non-working walls ("TNWWs") into two basic categories - planned and unplanned. Internal reasons for the creation of TWAs, as a rule, are the result of errors and deficiencies in budgeting and mining operations. Such causes arise in the internal system of the operation's activities.

Analysis of influence of factors of the mineral raw materials market on the productivity of quarries

Article preview

First of all, the paper discusses the concept of equilibrium price in the mineral market, concluding that microeconomic theory alone cannot determine such a price. Next, the reasons for price fluctuations are outlined and it is shown that if it is impossible to determine the equilibrium price, it is at least possible to determine the "floor" and "ceiling" price. Finally, a method of price forecasting based on a preliminary analysis of the relevant industry structure is proposed.

Problems of development of raw material base of aluminum industry of Russia and organization of production in conditions of market economy

Article preview

The main ore base of the Russian aluminum industry is the deposits of the North Urals bauxite basin. The deposits are developed at depths of 900-1000 meters, and the design and opening of new horizons is planned at depths of 1500-2000 meters. The mining and geological conditions of deposit development become sharply more complicated at greater depths. To ensure the required volumes of bauxite production under such conditions, it is necessary to solve the problem of safe mining operations at deep horizons of mines.

Principles of complex utilization of natural resources

Article preview

Sustainable development of mining companies is determined by the multipurpose use of mineral resources. Multipurpose use of natural resources allows to increase production efficiency, develop minerals in the most rational way and ensure full utilization of labor resources. At the same time, the problem of utilization of mining waste is solved, which helps to preserve the environment. The solution of these problems for mining companies is possible only in conditions of their full technological, entrepreneurial and economic independence.

This paper proposes one of the ways to account for the vertical asymmetry of displacement fields in the rock mass surrounding the tunnel, based on classical analytical solutions from continuum mechanics. To account for such asymmetry, the displacement and deformation functions obtained for symmetric design schemes are used and transformed to take into account the identified surface of zero displacements and deformations under the tunnel.

New technologies to ensure safety in mining in Russia

Article preview

Mineral extraction is closely connected with the processes of human impact on the environment in order to provide raw materials and their partial loss. With the total extraction of mineral resources exceeding 6.5bn tons, the total losses in the subsoil amount to 2.5bn tons: about 50bn tons of harmful substances are emitted into the atmosphere, more than 2bn m3 of polluted waste water is discharged into water bodies and more than 8bn tons of solid waste is stored on the surface of the earth. The scientific school of SPGGI is developing a set of measures to protect the environment from the harmful effects of technological processes in open-pit and underground coal mining, which today is a demanded natural energy resource, and in the future will become one of the main ones, as its supply can satisfy the needs of all industries for several hundred years.

Increase of efficiency and safety of mining works at coal stripping by large splinter

Article preview

Underground development of deposits with the use of coal plow machines for mine destruction is a long-term prospect due to full automation of the working process. A serious disadvantage of mechanical destruction is a large energy consumption for separation. The author's development shows the possibility of creating coal-plow machines with a new principle of ore separation based on the detachment of coarse clastic ore. The principle is developed in SPMI and allows to reduce energy consumption for ore breaking in comparison with the outdated domestic and world prototype.

Calculation of the air quantity necessary for ventilation of the railway tunnels during their operation

Article preview

A method for calculating the required amount of air for gas ventilation of the internal combustion engine of railway tunnels has been developed. This method takes into account such provisions as the direction of air movement to the direction of train movement, train speed and the number of trains simultaneously in the tunnel. Cases such as a train standing motionless with the engine running, train movement towards and against the direction of airflow, and cases of multiple trains in the tunnel are analyzed. For all variants, calculation equations of the required air quantity and recommended train speed that can ensure the concentration of pollutants in the tunnel below the MAC (maximum permissible concentration) are proposed.

Analysis and evaluation of the results of hydrogeochemical monitoring of groundwater to ensure the safety of mining operations at Yakovlevsky mine

Article preview

The basic principles of organization and carrying out of hydrogeochemical monitoring according to the set parameters of chemical compounds of mine water at Yakovlevsky mine are given. Monitoring allows to estimate the activity of overflow and secondary moistening of rich iron ores in the mine. At carrying out of monitoring the general occurrence of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) of various genesis is revealed. The correlation of H2S and chlor- ionic maintenance was obtained. Zones of active water overflow from low-carbon limestone at horizons -425 m and -370 m were outlined. The possibility of corrosion of concrete and metals under the influence of H2S is shown.

Monitoring of technogenic impact of environmentally hazardous facilities of OAO Gazprom

Article preview

A system of industrial environmental monitoring (EEM) is proposed for Gazprom. As a software and information support of the IEM it is proposed to use the information and measurement system ARCGis, which allows real-time data collection on the state of monitored objects, data processing and analysis, as well as the distribution of monitoring results between different departments of the enterprise. It is established that one of the most rational approaches to the creation of the IEM system is the introduction of a module for interpretation of satellite images taken in different spectral ranges and characterized by high characteristics of spatial resolution.

Socio-economic development of coal-mining regions based on the assessment of environmental capacity of the natural environment

Article preview

The results of the analysis of the environmental situation in coal-mining regions based on the assessment of the environmental capacity of the natural environment and its exhaustiveness are presented. The limiting level of coal mining within a typical administrative district in terms of area and population, providing environmental stability under the current normative indicators and applied methods and means of engineering environmental protection, is determined. A set of tasks, the solution of which at the level of the federal center by executive and legislative authorities of a particular sub-unit of the federation, or directly by the economic entities themselves will lead to a reduction in the negative impact of the coal mining industry on the environment and the health of the population of the region, is proposed.

Features of the assessment of the impact of mining and industrial enterprises on water ecosystems

Article preview

The article deals with the methods of assessing the environmental hazard of wastewater from mining enterprises. It is proved that the only reliable approach to the assessment of anthropogenic impact on biological systems is the use of both biological and non-biological environmental parameters, and the mandatory consideration of their interdependence is crucial. As an example of the environmental impact of a mining enterprise on aquatic ecosystems, an ecological study of the Luga River section in the zone of influence of PG Phosphorit, located in Leningrad region, was used.
