Spanish groups in universities are usually formed from students who did not study Spanish in high school, and it is necessary to start by familiarizing oneself with the sound structure of the language, and the rules of reading and spelling at the same time.

The difficulty of recognizing the main members of a sentence expressed by homonymous words when developing the skill of meaningful reading leads to the need to identify rational ways of deciphering them. As a result of understanding the text, meaningful reading can be achieved through simultaneous analysis of the sentence, which is carried out quickly and efficiently with knowledge of the formal features that help to identify the main members of the sentence: the subject and the predicate. However, the development of such a system of formal features with respect to the English language is hindered by the wide occurrence of homonymy in this language.

The practice of working with international students and postgraduates who have completed preparatory courses in Russian and are studying at a technical university has shown the need to continue work on the adverbial participle.

Modern methods of teaching foreign languages have put forward the requirement to combine language teaching with the study of the history and culture of the people for whom it is the native language. Hence the interest in area studies materials reflecting the civilization of this people, the peculiarities of its culture, everyday life, and customs.

Vietnamese students study grammar seriously, and they work a lot on phonetics: they learn to pronounce the sounds that are "difficult" for them – г, д, л, ль, ж, ш, ц; to read “ого” as “ово”; and in connected speech in the full style to change sounds in accordance with the laws of the Russian language, for example at word boundaries, voiced consonants before voiceless ones assimilate, and voiced consonants before sonorants and в do not assimilate, etc.

The temporal modifier of the structural basis of a sentence in the modern language is expressed by adverbs, stable phraseological units of adverbial character, and nouns included as dependent words in different types of phrases.

The aspectual form of Present Perfect (P.P.)functions almost exclusively in direct speech; however, there are cases of its use in the narrative part of literary works. This work is devoted to the analysis of such cases.

The aspectual character of the verb — a phenomenon first identified in English studies by E. Kreising and subsequently developed by G. N. Vorontsova, I. P. Ivanova, and others — is by its very nature relevant to the category of aspect in any period of the English language's existence. However, the weight and substance of its role in the language change depending on factors such as the chronological "cross-section" of the language and the mode of interaction between this phenomenon and verbal structures within each "cross-section".

"Penguin Island" (1908) is a satirical novel. Under the guise of a fantastic story of penguins, baptized by mistake by a dim-sighted saint, and then turned into people, France unfolds a satirical picture of the past and present of France. But the meaning of the novel is broader and deeper than a parody of French national history. Presented in a generalized and allegorical form, the history of the French people here symbolizes the history of all mankind. The literary device employed by France gives him the opportunity to be independent of actual historical facts and, using them only for typical generalizations, to freely conjecture and fantasize so as to reveal the very essence of the historical process.

When analyzing the early work of A. Daudet and his connection with the movement of neo-Provencal writers – Félibrige – it seems necessary to focus on "Letters from My Mill", a work in which the influence of neo-Provencal literature on the young writer was most clearly manifested.

A full-fledged translation of prose texts of any type is always and invariably a system of transformations of the original. By transformations, we mean the transmission of thought contained in a certain speech unit of the original (a sentence is now taken as such a unit in prose), and the stylistic coloring of this speech unit by other lexico-phraseological and grammatical means than those used in the original.

In order to have a complete picture of the development and formation of the Russian literary language, "each of the old monuments of the language must be analyzed separately in lexical, grammatical, and historical-literary terms." The present work aims to make some contribution to the solution of this task.

An interuniversity educational and methodological conference of the teaching staff on the problems of improving higher mining education was held at the Leningrad Mining Institute. The conference was attended by representatives of 18 mining-metallurgical institutes and mining faculties of polytechnic institutes of the country.
