Carbon capture and storage: net zero contribution and cost estimation approaches

Article preview

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) are a combination of necessary and promising technologies that can help reduce CO2 emissions, which are not used on a large scale due to the high cost of solutions. This article aims to review and analyze carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in terms of their net zero contribution and cost estimates. The study identified a wide range of cost estimation methods that can be applied to CCS projects and revealed such issues as a lack of standardization, limited data, and cost data variability. Still, several common trends were found, including the classification of CCS adopters into low-cost and high-cost industries, cost estimation by CCS step (capture, transportation, storage) and industry (power generation, other sectors), and calculation of relative indices to make comparisons with other decarbonization options. The results of the study can serve as a foundation for developing approaches to estimating the costs of CCS in Russia, which are necessary for planning government support measures and involving businesses in the implementation of these initiatives.

Methodological Approach to Substantiation of Capital Investments of Gold Fields Based on Unit Costs

Article preview

Issues of assessing capital expenditures for setting mineral deposits into operation are considered. Existing methods have a number of advantages and disadvantages, but they are determined separately for each type of fixed assets of the field. A simple method, that allows to quickly and easily determine the amount of capital costs for setting gold deposit into operation, based on data on ore reserves, as well as unit costs, taking into account the degree of infrastructure development at the deposit, is proposed. Presented methodology allows one to determine the real amount of initial capital expenditures of a gold deposit, calculate their marginal (recommended) value, and also assess the balance of capital investments in the development of a particular deposit, taking into account the existing one in the company's investment portfolio. The methodology is based on analysis of empirical material, which used real capital costs for development of gold deposits (and foreign-metal impurities) by Polymetal International plc. As a result of a statistical study, method for determining the marginal cost of a field is obtained.

The mechanism of optimization of the control system of traffic of resources in the chain of deliveries on the example of the enterprise of open company «KNAUF GIPS ARKHANGELSK»

Article preview

At the developing present stage the economic science has proved, and practice has confirmed that reserves on the further increase in profit are put not so much in developing of technologies, a manufacturing intensification, and how many in reduction of the expenses connected with moving of resources which make from 20 to 60 % from the general expenses of the enterprise. One of directions of achievement of these purposes is the commitment of increase of management efficiency traffic of resources of the enterprise in a chain of deliveries. And it in turn makes essential impact on rates and proportions of economic developing of the enterprise. Realizing the allocating and exchange functions, the generated chains of deliveries determine dynamics of commodity-material, information, financial and other streams in the course of reproduction. At traffic of resources control in a chain of deliveries there is a commitment of improvement of quality of servicing of consumers with smaller expenses.

Management of competitiveness of the enterprise in crisis

Article preview

Feature of anti-recessionary management of the organisation consists in the raised complexity of administrative processes. Financial crisis is shown in shortage of money resources, growth of the delayed creditor debts, falling of sales, discontent of the personnel and other adverse factors. Level of requirements to the heads, making the most important, strategic decisions, increases in a geometrical progression In the conditions of a crisis state most important to reduce one expenses and to increase others which can make the company profitable.
