The paper presents the results of borehole stability research and considers possible causes of emergencies. The features of the blast hole drilling process are analyzed taking into account the properties of the rock. Based on the distribution of speed of drill fines removal from the well, an algorithm for selecting drilling modes is proposed. The nature of change in the size of the holess over time has been analyzed. This paper investigates the influence of rock fracturing and its water content on borehole stability. Possible options for eliminating the man-made impact on the massif near holes and options for fixing the hole walls with soft shells are suggested. The experimental data on the installation of shells for the conditions of open mining of apatite-nepheline ores are given. The operability and effectiveness of the technology is proved.
The paper deals with the application of air and hydraulic hammer tools for the destruction of hard rock in the mode of continuous operation. The regularities of the effectiveness of demolition of rock, depending on the shape and angle of the executive body to the surface are deter-mined. There are recommendations for use the executive bodies of shock mining machines in the article.

The authoring is evidence of the possibility of the coal-plough machines creation with a new principle of ore separation on the basis of the big debris ore break off. The principle is developed in SPMI and it’s permitted to reduce energy consumption on the ore destruction in comparison with legacy domestically produced and world-wide prototype.
The article deals with the development of mechanics as a science in its historical development up to the beginning of XX century. The peculiarity of the historical development of mechanics is due to the development of technology. At the initial stage till the end of XVIII - beginning of XIX centuries technique was ahead of mechanics development, and then with the development of differential and integral calculus mechanics begins to be ahead of technique and provides its further development. The article reexamines the phases of development of technique and mechanics, while noting the trends in the development of individual sections of mechanics. Due to the emerging needs of mining, both simple and compound machines (pumps, winders, blowers, etc.) arise and are improved. With their appearance arises the need for their maintenance and repair.
