Crustal movement model in the ITRF2020 – a case study in Northern Vietnam

Article preview

In the North area of Vietnam, the crustal movement velocity of 38 GNSS points belonging to different international Earth reference frames (ITRF2000, ITRF2005, ITRF2008) is adjusted to the international Earth reference frame ITRF2020. This is the latest frame up to now. Since then, the picture of crustal movement in the North area of Vietnam has been unified in a dynamic coordinate system. In the study area, the rate of crustal movement is about 35 mm/year, and the direction of displacement is from northwest to southeast. To build a model of the crustal movement of the Earth in the northern area of Vietnam, the movement velocity data of 38 stations in ITRF2020 is evaluated with high accuracy. All points are also satisfactory. And then, the crustal movement velocity model is built by using the collocation method in the form of the 3-order Markov function. Within 38 stations, 34 stations are used to build the model and 4 remaining stations are used as checked stations. The obtained results show that the Earth's crust movement velocity model has an accuracy of about 2 mm/year for movement velocity and 2 deg for movement direction. This is the first model of Earth's crust movement in the North of Vietnam that has been built in the latest dynamic coordinate system ITRF2020. These results have important significance in the research and practical application of the movement of the Earth's crust. The steps of building the movement velocity model in this study can be applied to other experimental areas in the territory of Vietnam.

On flood protection measures for potash mines

Article preview

Development of water-soluble ore deposits is associated with the necessity to preserve water blocking strata (WBS), which separate aquifers from the mine gob. One indicator of the rate of man-induced load on WBS layers is subsidence of the earth surface, which defines the character of shift trough formation of the earth surface. The greatest threat of WBS discontinuity is posed by the areas located at the edges of a shift trough. From the perspective of Upper Kama deposit of potassium and magnesium salts, by means of mathematical modelling methods authors demonstrated that in the capacity of threat indicators of WBS hole destruction it is possible to use the following parameters of a shift trough: edge length scaled to the depth of mining operations and maximum subsidence of the earth surface. Critical combination of these factors is responsible for the discontinuity at the edges of water blocking strata. These parameters of a shift trough can easily be controlled by instrumental procedures and can be included in the basics of a general monitoring system of WBS state at potash mines. In order to protect the mine from the inrush of fresh water, it is necessary to form softening zones at the edges of mined-out areas near permanent or temporary borders of mining operations. Authors review different options of softening zone formation. Numerical tests have demonstrated that the most efficient way to protect water blocking strata is the formation of softening zones by means of backfilling the stopes of the workable seam or its exclusion from mining operations.

Effective Power and Speed of Mining Dump Trucks in Fuel Economy Mode

Article preview

Existing methods for determining the effective power, based on the calculation of the average indicator operation of the engine during the piston stroke, do not take into account the change in thermodynamic parameters and the polytropic operation of the engine, the value of which depends on the polytropic efficiency of the duty cycle. This is the reason that the calculation of the effective power leads to some error – the margin of the engine features. The identification of this stock allows us to review the entire line of dump trucks in the direction of increasing their pass- port effective capacity, which will lead to a reduction in capital purchase costs due to the choice of a previously un- derestimated and cheaper option, as well as a reduction in current operating costs due to a decrease in the specific fuel consumption rate. Taking into account the stochastic nature of the transport process and assessing the influence of all external and internal factors when calculating the rational mode of operation of a mining truck can further reduce specific fuel consumption by choosing the rational speed of its movement in loaded and empty directions.

The concept of development of monitoring systems and management of intelligent technical complexes

Article preview

Conceptual approaches to improving the system of monitoring and managing the functional capabilities of intelligent technical complexes of buildings and transport and technological machines of mining enterprises are defined. Criteria are proposed for the efficiency of functioning of automatic systems for controlling the movement of transport-technological machines, taking into account the probabilistic nature of system-forming factors. The scheme of scientific and methodological research on the improvement of automation systems and traffic control in the automotive transport is presented. The perspective directions of the formation of control functions for the movement of vehicles based on the use of intelligent automated systems are substantiated. The stages of the life cycle of technical systems for monitoring the movement of vehicles, taking into account the features of their operation. A technique has been developed for the optimal use of technical means of control in the field of providing control and supervisory functions in the operation of vehicles, and the dependence of determining the financial costs of maintaining their efficiency has been determined.

Dynamic study of underground loading machine’s working tool crank-rocker mechanism

Article preview

The article is devoted to the dynamic study of the underground shovel’s working tool mech-anism, assembled in accordance with a crank-rocker scheme, containing curved wings, as well as to the study of the effect on uneven movement rate, produced by the working tool mechanism; pa-rameters and structural characteristics of the shovel paw design shape. On the basis of a synthesis of the loading machine’s working tool mechanisms, a kinematic scheme with a shovel paw, con-sisting of a straight operating part and a curved working tail, is offered. A dynamic model of the mechanism based on a variable weight of shovel bulk cargo and drive parameters of the working tool is developed, a motion equation is made up. Comparison between statistical indicators of effec-tive output obtained from the shovel loaders drive mechanism and the results of a separate computer simulation of the mechanisms under analysis attest to the proposed model’s performability.

The wave motions caused by oscillations of a flat wall

Article preview

The research is devoted construction analytical, in particular, exact solution of a problem on movement of the electrically conducting ideal rotating liquid modeling wave movements in a liquid kernel of the Earth. Namely, the problem about radiation of waves in rotating incompressible electrically conducting liquid by the flat wall making, since the initial moment, harmonious fluctuations is considered. Such statement of a problem can serve as the first step to research of influence of heterogeneity of the liquid environment on generation and maintenance of a magnetic field of the Earth.

Transformation of the form and angular parameters of rock movement processes with depth at ore deposits

Article preview

It was established the increase of movement angles with mining depth and the mechanism of forming the stable natural arching in underground mining of ore deposits. The conditions and parameters of forming the stable natural arching were determined, under which the zone of dangerous deformations localizes inside the ore mass and does not manifest itself on the earth surface. The nomogram for analytical determination of the rock movement angles was developed, and the table was drawn up of the natural arching conditions with due account of main mining-and-geological factors of ore deposit occurrence and its mining.
