Abstract

The European Master of Mining Engineering Course (EMMEC) is a modern and attractive form of higher education at European level, targeting students from the following three disciplines: Mining Engineering, Mineral Engineering and Geotechnical/Environmental Engineering. This educational program has only recently emerged, but the university-industry network on which it is based has been established over the last nine years. Currently, nine universities located in seven European countries are directly involved in EMMEC. It is coordinated by the Federation of European Mineral Programs (FEMP), which also brings together universities from third countries and 25 companies. EMMEC has applied for recognition under the recently launched EU Erasmus Mundus program, which aims to support European Masters courses of the highest quality and increase the attractiveness of European higher education in third countries.
