Abstract

The share of gas and oil production from buried reef massifs is constantly increasing. It explains the necessity to carry out geological investigations of hydrocarbon traps such as organogenic reef constructions. But usually drilling data are not sufficient for construction of geological model of the buried reef. Shikhans are surface-emerged massifs and thus they provide unique research material. This paper presents investigation results of the Shakh – Tau and Tora – Tau massifs as well as data on Shakh – Tau quarry mining. This allows detailed studies of structural peculiarities of oil-and-gas prospective Lower Permian reef massifs, which are located in foredeeps, and especially their rock formation and collector properties.
