Abstract

Construction of new buildings has recently been realized on terrains characterized with complicated ground conditions, owing to a lack of free space, increased land value and other external factors. This has made it a vital prerequisite to reinforce soils in the construction area by different means including the injection piles technique. This paper reviews specific features of foundation reinforcement with root piles applied in St. Petersburg conditions, technological stages of their installation; data on full-scale tests are supplied. The main advantages of soil reinforcement with injection piles are given as compared with other reinforcement technique.
