Abstract

The Institute of Mining Practice of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences together with the Ural State Mining Institute is developing and trying to introduce a new type of wagon-trolley at mining enterprises in Russia and CIS countries. This paper considers the basic requirements and the most acceptable, in our opinion, designs of the traction electric drive of the wagon, which can be briefly described as follows: supply network - frequency converter (consisting of completely uncontrolled IGBT or IGCT modules implemented by Direct Torque and Flux Control algorithm) - commutatorless traction motor.
