Abstract
The article contains the examples of landslide phenomena in Russian Federation caused by joint surface and underground mining and also underground slope undermining. Deformation processes occurred as a consequence of deficient and improper study of rock mass. Some examples of investigation of strength and deformation characteristics of the near-pit edge mass at one oreand one coal deposit with application of the combined surface and underground mining methods are given.
