The most important raw materials for different industries are oil and natural gas. With increasing consumption, the demand for drilling and the quality of production increases. Therefore, the exploration and production of hydrocarbons requires not only first-class machinery and technological equipment, but also qualified personnel. Exploration and drilling, production of hydrocarbons, like any other industry, cannot avoid accidents, emergencies and catastrophes. The worst type of well accident is undoubtedly an open eruption of the extracted crude oil. Open eruption can lead to serious injuries to the rig personnel, damage and destruction of equipment, negative environmental impact and loss of crude oil. Exploratory drilling can cause the rise of pressure and its subsequent manifestations. During the first deep drilling, there may not be enough information about the drilled horizons. If the reservoir pressure in the production horizon is higher than the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid in the well (for example, drilling mud), the formation fluids flow into the well and move towards the surface, which causes open eruption. The rig personnel must be properly trained to be able to recognize the occurrence of rising pressure by various signs and to respond effectively to the situation. Sometimes, under the influence of the human factor or equipment failure, open eruption still occurs. The article discusses the possibilities of eliminating open eruptions with drilling tools.

Justified selection of a seam degassing technology to ensure safety of intensive coal mining
- Authors:

The paper contains main aspects of methodological approach to objective analytic assessment of maximum permissible output of the mine faces from the viewpoint of gas factor. Analytic forecast is centered around the assessment of methane inflow into the face area from all possible sources, based on fundamental physical laws, modern tools of mathematical modeling and in-situ tests of main properties and state parameters of the gas-bearing coal formation. Objective and reliable estimation of permissible outputs is a starting point for justified selection of a seam degassing technology, that has to be based on time factor and predicted value of gas recovery from a coal seam to a degassing well. Recommendations have been formulated on the selection of degassing technology for the coal seam «Boldyrevsky» of the Kirov mine, based on the use of cutting-edge technological schemes (hydraulic fracture, carried out from development workings, etc.), successfully implemented on the mentioned site.

Isolation of promising areas to drill for unconventional hydrocarbons petrikovskih sediments Davydovskogo deposit Pripyat Trough
- Authors:
- E.I. Shevelev
Pripyat Trough is the only oil basin in the territory of the Republic of Belarus. Mining is carried out within the basin for 50 years. During this time, the proportion of active stocks decreased significantly, while the share of hard-to-inventories increased. Therefore, due to the depletion of traditional reserves, urgent problem arises in the study and production of unconventional hydrocarbon traps. To this type of traps are Petrikov deposits Davydov field. These deposits have low permeability and capacitive properties, but at the same time in a number of wells in the test sediment in Colon yielded commercial oil inflows. Some of the well in a certain period of development led oil from Petrikov deposits. In similar deposits Rechitsa field yielded commercial oil inflows in drilling horizontal wells with hydraulic fracturing. Until recently, the reservoir Petrikov deposits was listed among the off-balance sheet reserves after drilling – reserves transferred to the balance of C1. Therefore, the input to the development of stranded there is a need to identify the most promising area for drilling horizontal wells, followed by hydraulic fracturing. To perform this work was carried out pointwise interpretation of GIS for all wells Davydov field, the results of which built the geological and petrophysical model of the deposit. Also, the analysis of core samples, the results of drilling. Produced dismemberment Petrikov deposits on two subhorizon on the results of the interpretation of GIS and well logs. The outcome of the work performed is a recommended site for drilling.

On the design features of underground multiple gassy coal seam mining
- Authors:
- O. I. Kazanin
The analysis of the industry regulatory requirements and the world design experience of underground multiple coal seam mining is provided. The main problems of intensive longwall mining of multiple flat gassy coal seams as well as methods for determination of high rock pressure zone parameters and seams interaction are considered. The examples of a number of mines in the Kuzbass and Pechora coal basins show that the design of multiple seam mining and the choice of longwall panel parameters were often made without taking into consideration influence of surrounded seams that leads to essential complication of conditions for mining operations and decreases the technical and economic indicators of mining. The existing industry regulations do not allow considering complex influence of factors in multiple coal seams mining fully. On the basis of field, laboratory, and numeric research results it is noted that recommendations for pillar positioning in contiguous seams ensuring efficiency and safety of multiple seam longwall mining can significantly differ in case of liability of coal seams to spontaneous combustion, high natural gas content, influence of multiple seam mining onto daily surface, and difficult conditions of entries maintenance. The importance of having information on the stress-strain condition of the rock mass at a design stage and its changes in the process of multiple seam mining is shown. The need for industry regulations updating for the purpose of a more detailed definition of a form, size and a location of high rock pressure zones as well as stress parameters in these zones is noted. A set of recommendations for effective and safe multiple seam mining is developed.
