Mathematical modeling of the operation of longwall faces at the mines of Vorkutaugol Production Association

Article preview

Possible directions for solving the problem relevant to mining production, concerning the answers to the questions of expedient development of the front of cleaning works at mines are given. It is proposed to use the principles of regression analysis in the construction of mathematical models of this process, regression equations for the conditions of mine fields of the Vorkuta deposit are given. The possibility of using this principle in the selection of effective solutions for planning mining operations in the excavation of the remaining reserves of the field, taking into account the main mining and geological factors of development is noted.

Article preview

The theoretical basis for determining the fluid pressure required for hydraulic fracturing of a rock massif of block structure is outlined. The criterion of strength of such massif at volumetric character of deformation development in anisotropic field of gravitational-tectonic stresses is grounded. The results of Tyrnyauz experimental hydraulic fracturing of hot granites at a depth of about 4 km, as well as a comparison of calculated data with the results of hydraulic fracturing conducted by the Los Alamos laboratory of the United States.

Gas emissions in potash mines of the Starobinsky deposit

Article preview

Production studies using a specially developed methodology have shown that the pillar system of potash development at the Starobinsky deposit results in the release of combustible gases into the existing mine workings. The main component of these gases is methane, heavy hydrocarbons are emitted in insignificant amounts. Under normal conditions the absolute gas emission at the mine sites is insignificant. In the total gas balance of the sites, the main part (up to 98%) is gas emission from the mined-out space.

Application of radiation seismography to determine the contours of ejection-hazardous geological disturbances in the pillars of the Starobinskoye field prepared for mining

Article preview

Radiation seismic tomography is used in seismic exploration as one of the data interpretation techniques. It can be used to reconstruct a detailed picture of the rock structure in the space between two mine workings. The spatial distribution of attenuation or velocity of elastic waves is calculated using linear integrals or their approximations along the rays and reproduced digitally. The solution of large systems of linear equations linking the measured integral parameters and characteristics of the studied geological objects is performed using various algebraic algorithms. The analysis of elastic wave propagation between excavations is based on the concepts of geometrical optics. The possibilities of the reconstruction algorithms are illustrated in the process of processing experimental results of mine studies. The method allows to reproduce two-dimensional distribution of variations of the studied parameters.

Condensation humidification of coal dust aerosols and aerogels

Article preview

Materials of analytical, laboratory and mine studies of drying and moistening processes of coal dust aerogels are analyzed, and the influence of humidity on their explosiveness is studied. The methodology of selecting parameters of steam generation means for condensation moistening of coal dust deposits in mine workings, which provides protection from explosions and detonation, is outlined.

Analysis of the complex effect of face support pressure on rock convergence in drifts

Article preview

Comparison of observability of geomechanical processes forming various manifestations of rock pressure in the vicinity of the mine face allowed us to justify the applicability of harmonic analysis methods to study the influence of face support pressure on rock convergence in the drifts. An example of processing of measurements of soil swelling of a mining drift by the method of spectral analysis is given. The method of interpretation of the spectral characteristic of the swelling process depending on the size of the excavated space is proposed, which makes it possible to establish the parameters of the loading steps on the side of the hanging layers of the roof.

Influence of mining and geological conditions on the dynamics of roof collapses during layer excavation of potash beds

Article preview

The peculiarities of emergency collapses of the main roof during layer excavation of the Third potash layer were considered. Preliminary analysis of mining and geological conditions of their occurrence was carried out. The parameters of the immediate roof influencing the collapse intensity were revealed. Using Fisher's criterion, a "dynamism criterion" was found to assess the danger of different parts of the mine field.

Determining the thickness of reinforced concrete slabs during the transition from surface to underground mining operations

Article preview

The methodology of calculation of reinforced concrete slabs constructed at the bottom of the pit to isolate the underground mine during the transition to underground mining operations is described. The conclusion is made about the inadmissibility of a simplified approach to the definition of such slabs, which does not take into account the technology of development of underground reserves.

Prediction of self-collapse parameters and rock failure boundaries during joint development of apatite deposits

Article preview

The issues of estimation of danger of collapse of collapsing rocks at joint horizontally underground and open-pit development of apatite deposits sites are considered. It is shown, that at known parameters of self-collapse of covering rocks and borders of their collapse there are organizational and technological possibilities of prevention of danger of ejection of rocks in a quarry by a choice of an appropriate order and parameters of development of clearing works in underground conditions, and also a place and time of performance of protective measures.

Energy model of processes during open-pit mining of ore and nonmetallic deposits

Article preview

On the basis of the system approach the energy model of processes at open-pit mining of ore and nonmetallic deposits is proposed. The specific energy intensity of the processes depends on the average size of a piece of rock mass after the explosion. The energy model allows minimizing the energy intensity of mineral extraction.
