Abstract

Based on GOME satellite data on NO2 distribution in the troposphere, the anthropogenic emission of nitrogen oxides in Russia in 2000 was estimated. The obtained value of 4 million tons agrees well with the value calculated from energy consumption data, which allows using space monitoring to substantiate emission inventories.
