Abstract

The article offers a methodology for assessing the unique competitive risks of the diamond mining industry: the environmental competitive risk and the competitive conflict risk. These risks become especially relevant for diamond mining companies operating in the conditions of intensified competition on the global diamond market, more complicated global military and political situation associated with armed conflicts and terrorist acts, deterioration of environmental parameters and increased consumer attention to the environmental quality of products. The proposed methodology is based on an indirect statistical-probabilistic method of calculating the estimated risk, the nature and complexity of which do not allow applying a direct calculation. The risk indicators obtained are different for individual national jewelry markets and for different diamond mining companies.
