Abstract
The aspiration to join the European Union is a strategic choice for Romania, and this entails many changes in the national economy, including in the electricity and heat sectors. In recent years, there have been many changes in the legislative, institutional and operational areas of the Electricity Sector. In accordance with the provisions of the EU Community Directive 96/92 EC, the creation of the Romanian internal electricity market provides for the following measures: unbundling of generation, transmission/dispatch and distribution/supply activities; Market liberalization: open access to T&D networks, correlated with the eligibility of consumers. In this way, the introduction of competition in distribution/supply is stimulated and the supply of generation is improved.
