Abstract

Magnetic flocculation is of great importance in magnetic beneficiation processes. It is unavoidable in any kind of processing of fine-grained iron-containing materials. This phenomenon reduces the efficiency of both classification and grinding, and also has a negative impact on wet magnetic separation. A promising way to solve the problem of magnetic agglomeration is the use of sodium silicate as a reacting agent. Improvement of the wet magnetic separation process will make it possible to grind thinly melted ores up to complete stripping and obtain high quality concentrates. Intensification of magnetic separation will allow processing rebellious ores, the beneficiation of which is currently associated with significant losses of the iron component.
