Abstract

The paper presents the principal aims of translation for specific purposes, and particularly, the requirements of equivalence and appropriateness; enumerates possible causes which can result in translation mistakes. The paper focuses on determination of linguistic interference. The examples analysed cover interference in phonics and onomatopoeia, orthography, grammar, lexis, and stylistics.
