Abstract

During the study of the operation mode of the hydraulic stowing complex, a radioisotope density meter PZHR-2M with a measuring range of 0‑0.5 g/cm³ was used to measure the density of the hydraulic mixture. This range in some cases did not meet the conditions of the hydraulic stowing complex operation. Often the mixing device could not provide complete filling of the pipeline. Then air moved along the pipeline with the pulp, and the device showed the density value less than one. For correct evaluation of the work of the stowing complex it was necessary to know the character of pulp movement with incomplete utilization of its cross-section. For this purpose the measuring limits of the instrument were extended by means of lead tared plates placed between the source unit and the pipeline. By changing the thickness and number of plates, it was possible to have several measurement ranges: 0‑0.5; 0.5‑1.0; 1.0‑1.5 g/cm³.
