Ways of expanding the range of industrial explosives and methods of controlling their energy characteristics

Article preview

To regulate the impact of explosion in the directional destruction of rocks, it is necessary to use industrial explosives (IE) with a sufficiently wide range of energy, technological and physical-mechanical properties. In some cases, it is even necessary to reduce the volumetric energy density and create controlled systems for energy transfer and extraction. When developing the explosives for the mining industry it should be taken into account that the efficiency of the use of explosives is determined not only by the degree of useful use of the potential energy of the charge, but also by the possibility to control the mechanism of destruction of rocks. The creation of methods of controlling the explosion energy is based on a qualitative change in the mechanism of its action by introducing additives to the PVB composition, improving the technology of preparation, modifying the surface of the energy-intensive metal combustibles.

Investigation of the stability of ore and rock massifs around the high cleaning chambers during the development of steeply falling potash deposits

Article preview

The tendencies existing in the world practice of underground development of steeply falling deposits of potassium salts by chamber system, testify that one of the most perspective directions of creation of technology of future mining enterprises is reduction of irretrievable losses of a mineral in the subsoil at the expense of increase of chamber stocks of a block by change of its sizes, including increase of height of a storey, in a combination with filling of worked-out space.

Application of complex aerogeophysical survey in search of muscovite deposits in Northern Karelia

Article preview

In 1978-1981 in PGO Sevzapgeologia was proposed a set of radio-geochemical methods of searching for deposits of muscovite pegmatites, based on their uranium specialization and regular connection of radio-geochemical halos with pegmatite fields in the territory of the White Sea pegmatite province.

Experience of operation of a cooled partition in a matte bath of a continuous converting unit

Article preview

One of the directions of improvement of pyrometallurgical processing is the creation of multi-chamber units, in separate chambers of which different characteristic processes are carried out. Such combined units of ore smelting and slag depletion, conversion and depletion, smelting, conversion and depletion have been developed in recent years in the USSR and abroad ...

Dependence of the amplitude of seismic oscillations on the size of the charge used

Article preview

As is known, when using seismic exploration methods, the problem of elastic wave generation is of paramount importance. However, many issues in this area are still very poorly studied. In particular, there is no information about the dependence of the amplitude of seismic oscillations on the size (weight) of the charge, although this issue is of theoretical and practical importance. This paper presents some information on this dependence, obtained on the basis of special experimental work, supplemented by the results of processing of conventional RWCV and DSS seismograms.
