A new working media for drum mills has been tested, composed of spheroidal tetrahedrons. The experimental work took account of the influence of various technological and structural parameters and properties of the material being milled. Experimental data show that under equal other conditions, grinding media composed of spheroidal tetrahedrons ensures higher technological performance in the milling process compared to grinding media composed of balls.
Grinding of mineral raw materials of different composition in ball mills, rotary and vertical mill is one of the leading process for disclosure of mineral complexes and preparation of raw material for enrichment. Capital and operating costs for grinding can be up to 70 % of total costs. Reduced total cost of grinding is the most important task in the technology of mineral processing. The main ways of intensifying the grinding process are associated with increased productivity, lower unit costs, improving process flow diagrams and improved process control. At the present time, the reduction of energy consumption in all redistributions concentrator is of paramount importance.
