Fractional subdivisions stratigraphic and paleontological

Article preview

In his classification of the organic world (1758), C. Linnaeus distinguished two categories of species, modern and fossil. The time of existence of modern biological species was clear to him. Linnaeus believed that they were contemporary with man and were no more than 20,000 years old ...

Major fluctuations in the level of the world ocean and the formation of some mineral deposits

Article preview

The study of global fluctuations in the level of the World Ocean in the Neogene and Anthropogenic in recent years, to some extent unexpectedly for researchers who are in contact with this problem, began to acquire in our country more and more distinct practical orientation ...

Biostratigraphy of the Chergak supra-horizon of Tuva

Article preview

In geological studies of Tuva and adjacent areas use the stratigraphic scheme adopted by the Second Meeting on the development of stratigraphic schemes of Central Siberia in 1964 and approved by the Interdepartmental Stratigraphic Committee of the USSR. According to this scheme, the Silurian of Tuva is represented by two horizons: the lower - Chergakian and the upper - Khondergean ...

Two new species of Ripidomellidae of the Chergakian supra-horizon of Tuva

Article preview

Of all the organic remains found in the sediments of the Chergakian suprahorizon, brachiopod remains are the most numerous. Nuclei, shell impressions, scattered flaps are found throughout the whole section of the Chergak series (from its base to the roof) and in a wide variety of rocks (from coarse-grained sandstones to shale and massive limestones). Finds of whole brachiopod shells are much rarer, but in some places they form massive assemblages. The brachiopod complex is represented almost exclusively by endemic forms ...

Brief characterization of the Silurian-Devonian boundary sediments section of the Obi-Safit sai in the west of the Zeravshan Range (Southern Tien Shan).

Article preview

According to the scheme of structural-formation zoning of the Southern Tien Shan, the Zeravshan region belongs to the Zeravshan-Alai zone, where the sections of the Lower and Middle Paleozoic are characterized by predominantly carbonate composition. The Upper Silurian sediments of the Zeravshan Range are represented by the characteristic lithologically uniform Arg Formation composed of dolomites and dolomitic limestones with benthic fauna. The lower subformity of the Arg Formation corresponds to the Upper Wenlock-Ludlow Formation; the upper subformity corresponds to the Post-Ludlow (Prjidol) ...

New Data on the Carboniferous Stratigraphy of Northern Predchingizia

Article preview

In this paper, the Northern Predchingizie is understood as the territory adjacent to the Chingiz Range from the north and represented by a combination of separate ridges of mountain massifs (the largest of the massifs are the Degelen Mountains) and broad valleys. In the east of the territory in the northern direction runs the valley of the Chagan River. Previously, many researchers considered this area as part of the plains of Pavlodar or Semipalatinsk Priirtyshye, which in the orographic sense is inaccurate ...

Srpukhovskian Stage of the western part of the Zaisan fold system

Article preview

In most areas of W. Kazakhstan, the boundary between the Lower and Middle Carboniferous is indistinct, gradual, which is the reason for the allocation of local stratigraphic subdivisions, the age of which is interpreted as Upper Namur-Middle Carboniferous undissected or as Upper Namur-Middle Carboniferous ...

Stratotypic section of the Asselian Stage

Article preview

The stratotypic section of the Asselian Stage is considered to be the section between the Assel and Uskalyk rivers, left tributaries of the B. Ik River. The section under the name “Section in the Uksalyk River basin” was first described by V.E. Ruzhentsev in 1951. Our studies have established that the Asselian Stage is characterized in stratotype b. Е. Ružentsev starting from the middle fusulinid zone (Schwgerina moelleri and Pseudofusulina fecunda) of the Asselian Stage, which is confirmed by the fusulinid complex given by V. E. Ružentsev for layers 2 and 4: Pseudofusulina cf. parafecunda Scharn et Scherb., P. conspecta Scham. et Scherb., Schwagerina vulgaris Scherb., Pseudoschwagerina uddeni Wedet Knik ., P. primigena Raus ....

Fusulinids of terrigenous sediments of the Lower Permian of the Aktyubinsk and Orenburg Pre-Urals.

Article preview

On the basis of the evolutionary development of ammonoids, V. E. Ruzhentsev developed a tier scale for the Carboniferous and Lower Permian deposits of the Southern Urals. Stratotypes and reference sections of the Orenburg Stage of the Upper Carboniferous of this scheme, as well as the Asselian, Sakmarian stages and two horizons of the Artinskian Stage of the Lower Permian are located in the territory of the Aktyubinsk and Orenburg Urals and are represented by marine terrigenous sediments ...

The Aidaralashi section - a reference section of the Asselian Stage

Article preview

The Aidaralashi section is located in the Aktyubinsk Priuralie on the right bank of the Aidaralashi River, a left tributary of the Zheman-Kargal River, 7-8 km downriver from the Novorossiyskiy settlement. The section reveals a thick (1200 m) thickness of sandy-clayey fleishoid deposits, in the composition of which the authors distinguish three horizons of the Asselian Stage, corresponding to three fusulinid zones ...

Paleogeography of the Early Cretaceous of Northeast Yakutia

Article preview

The area under consideration covers the extreme northeast of Yakutia and the right bank of the lower Kolyma River basin. The Lower Cretaceous sediments are distributed here in four structural-facial areas - Momo-Zyryanskaya, Oloyskaya, Anyuyskaya, and Alazeyskaya - confined to different structural elements of the Mesozoic of the North-East. The first three areas include several structural-facies zones, usually spatially coinciding with troughs and troughs of the same name ...

Norian-Rath sediments of Northwest Vietnam

Article preview

The Nori-Rhat sediments of N.-W. Vietnam, which were assigned by J. Depra to the marine Rhat Formation with greasy coal, and then by J. Fromage to strata with Myophorianapengensis, by A. E. Dovzhikov to the Suoi Bang Formation, by the author and by Nguyen Vinh to the Suoi Bang Formation, are widespread in many areas ...
