Abstract

This digest contains articles by the leaders of the first higher technical educational institution of Russia, articles dedicated to them published in the scientific journal ‘Journal of Mining Institute’ and a selection of biographical publications about the rectors, as well as a list of all directors and rectors of the Mining University. Over 117 years of the journal’s existence, 14 rectors of the Mining University have become authors of its scientific articles, the majority of whom have not only made a huge contribution to the development of mining science, geology, and industrial production of the country, but also had a significant impact on its culture and social and political life. Many of them have received broad worldwide recognition and have become absolute authorities in world and national science
