Abstract

It is proposed to use the term "Petromechanics" for the disciplines that study the physical and mechanical properties of rocks, which will be a continuation of the petrological approach proposed by V.D. Lomtadze. Issues of studying mechanical processes in rock massifs in relation to various natural-technogenic conditions are proposed to consider in the discipline "Geomechanics", which in directions can be divided into regional and global geomechanics, applied (engineering) geomechanics and hydrogeomechanics.
