Abstract

Improvement of production efficiency and quality of rolled products is directly related to the reliability of parts and components of the main equipment. One of the problems, typical for the bed frames of rolling mills, is the wear of the contact surfaces of roll pads and the inner surface of the beds. Wear of surfaces leads to increased clearances, which, in its turn, leads to various violations in the adjustment of work stands: misalignment of work rolls axes, misalignment of work and support rolls axes, the combined effect of misalignment of work rolls axes and misalignment of work and support rolls axes. These effects, acting in combination, lead to the emergence of axial forces on the rolls, up to 20% of the rolling force. As a result of these forces, failure of roller bearings is observed. There are various methods to control gaps occurring in the system "roll cushion - bed frame", both technological and constructive.
