Abstract

The data of the prospecting-geochemical surveys carried out in 2000 in the Ganinsky area of the Burakovsky-Aganozersky massif of Karelia served as the material for the present work. The purpose of the surveys was to develop methods of geochemical prospecting for platinum-metal mineralization using thermo-magnetic geochemical and metal-organic soil forms methods and to identify local anomalies with good prospects for detecting platinum-metal mineralization. As a result of testing various options for processing of prospecting and geochemical data, it was proved that the best result gives the application of the methodology aimed at the fullest possible account of the varying landscape conditions. Two promising areas are identified, one of which is predicted to have low-sulfide platinum-metal mineralization, and the other has maximum concentrations of chromium, nickel and copper in soils.
