Devonian tetracorals of the southern Altai and adjacent territories
Abstract
The study of Devonian tetracorals was undertaken to substantiate the Devonian stratigraphy for the state geological survey of the Altai Mountains. During 1956–1958, coral collections from the following areas were processed: 1) the upper reaches of the Char River – Kalbinsky Ridge (collection of G. I. Sokratov, VSEGEI, 1953–1955); 2) the right bank of the Bukhtarma River (collection of V. P. Pnev, Irtysh group of parties, East Kazakhstan Geological Administration (EKGU), 1956–1957); 3) the Pnevskoye deposit (collection of V. P. Pnev, 1953); 4) the northern slope of the Sarym-Sakty Ridge (collection of V. P. Pnev and V. Popov, 1956); 5) the southern Primarkakulye area (collection of D. P. Avrov, N. P. Ivanov, VSEGEI; V. P. Pnev and others, EKGU, 1953–1957); 6) the Uymenskaya Depression – Gorny Altai (collection of Yu. S. Maimin, VSEGEI, 1957); 7) the Kyzyl-Shin River basin – Gorny Altai (collection of E. N. Yanov, VSEGEI, 1957); 8) the Zaysan area – Saursky Ridge (collection of V. V. Lebedev, VSEGEI, 1953; G. P. Kleiman and S. Kell, EKGU, 1957).
