Depth of ore deposits development by open-cutting systems
Authors:
Abstract
Development systems with open-cutting space provide intensive excavation, high labor productivity and relatively low cost of ore extraction. However, with such systems, ore losses steadily increase with mining depth. It is important to determine the economically permissible value of ore losses in the subsurface and, consequently, the maximum depth of development by open-pit systems. We consider the issue in relation to the conditions of the Kotselvaara copper-nickel deposit.
