Separation of heavy non-ferrous metals from dilute aqueous solutions by ion flotation

Article preview

In recent years, information has appeared in the literature about the possibility of using the ion flotation method for the extraction of elements from solutions. This method is most effective for solutions of low concentrations. Thus, F. Sebba considers the ion flotation method as the primary method for obtaining metals from dilute solutions – even from seawater. Armour hopes to apply the ion flotation process to extract metals from mine waters, and a group of American engineers has investigated the possibility of extracting strontium from wastewater of the nuclear industry.
