Displacements of earth masses, called landslides, are very widespread on the territory of Georgia. There is almost no region where landslide phenomena do not cause harm to the national economy, annually destroying tens of thousands of hectares of arable land and pastures, forests, and railways and highways. The most characteristic is the landslide region of the Kakheti Range – the watershed of the Iori and Alazani valleys.
