Representatives of the family Megalodontidae are widely distributed on the South and North Islands of Novaya Zemlya, as evidenced by the collections of B. A. Alferov (1934), A. A. Petrenko (1936), and B. V. Miloradovich (1936), studied by us for this article.

The collection of Devonian and Etrenian lamellibranch mollusks that served as the material for the present work (collected by R. A. Arakelyan, Institute of Geological Sciences, Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR), unfortunately, by no means exhausts the wealth and diversity of the Devonian pelecypod fauna of Armenia.
