On the example of a two-layer model of the tectonosphere in the oceanic rift zone, the main stages of lithospheric plate excavation are highlighted. A qualitative view of normal stresses in the body of the tectonospheric package is given. A model of the process of plate cooling in the rift zone is given. The conclusion is made about the autocoletive character of the evolution of the tectonosphere in the rift zone. A scheme of the corresponding mechanism is given.
