The open development of iron ore deposits in the Angara province leads to the development of many technogenic geological processes and phenomena. Among them, of particular importance are landslides, collapses, and filtration deformations, which have a long-term negative impact on environmental changes.
Performed engineering-geological research can be considered as a basis for the characterization of physical and mechanical properties of the main types of rocks of Irkutsk. Actual researches are the problems of development of underground space of the city, study of alluvial and technogenic soils. This raises the question of the need to improve the quality of training in universities in the region (Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Perm).
