Organizational, theoretical and methodological (fundamental), applied (production) aspects, as well as issues of training and retraining of geotechnical engineers in Russia, developed after the collapse of the USSR in connection with the problems of development of engineering geology are considered.
Some topical issues of improving the training of specialists in the field of engineering geology on the basis of computer technology application are considered. It is proposed to train students in the use of computer technologies in two stages. At the first stage (I - III courses) students should be trained to work with programs of wide profile, and at the second stage to master special packages of applied programs, oriented on the solution of engineering-geological problems. The technical, financial-economic and information-methodological aspects of electronic technologies application in the process of geotechnical engineers training at a higher educational institution are considered.
