Peculiarities of morphology of composition and structure of zircons from piterlites of Salma granite pluton (Northern Ladoga area)

Article preview

Accessory zircon from metasomatically altered granites of the Salmi intrusion has been studied by means of optic and SEM microscopy, accompanied with electron-probe analysis of trace elements. Peculiarities of morphology, inner structure and composition of the zircons were revealed. The correlation of those to the rock alteration degree has been established. Statistical pattern of compositional variations of zircons are estimated. The results are presented in the paper.

Peculiarities of zircon mineralization manifestation in pegmatites of Mamsko-Chuyskaya muscovite province

Article preview

The article presents the results of goniometric studies, optical and electron microscopy and micro-X-ray spectral analysis of accessory zircon in mica pegmatites of the Mamsko-Chuyskaya province of Eastern Siberia. The study allowed us to decipher ontogenetic features of zircon and reveal the distribution of major and trace elements in certain crystallographic forms. Some statistical regularities in variations of zircon composition are shown. Research Assistant.
