Employement of geoelectrical methods for prospecting for hydrocarbon stock in continental conditions of Ukraine

Article preview

For a long time (1998-2010) Ukrainian State Research and Design Institute of Mining Geology, Rock Mechanics and Mine Surveying of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has been carrying out investigations to delineate hydrocarbon stock deposits employing geoelectrical methods of Audiomagnitotelluric (AMT) Sounding in the Dnieper-Donetsk cavity (DDC), at the coast of the Azov Sea, in the continental part of the Kerch peninsula in Dobrudja. Field work dealt with AMT sounding along profiles consisted in observing Ex, Ey, Hx, Hy components of the natural earth’s electromagnetic field in the frequency range  of  7,81-40000 Hz (36864  records  for  one physical  point);  1,56-600 Hz  (32768  records);  0,049-30 Hz  (32768 records); 0,012-8 Hz (32768 records). AMTF electrical exploration equipment (made in Russia) was being employed together with the portable computer. In some regions (the Kerch peninsula, Dobrudja) VES and natural earth’s electromagnetic field methods were being employed additionally.
