The article is about an inverter power source used in the industry (a current up to 500 A, a duty cycle up to 60%, an inverter frequency not below 20 kHz) for the gas metal arc welding. There technical and technological advantages over the thyristor rectifier are discussed.

The article presents the results of experimental research of possibilities of diffusion welding of magnetostrictive converters of magnetostrictive alloy with concentrators (transformers fluctuations) made of titanium. Described the setting diffusion welding, the parameters of the welding process and the results of tests of welded joints.
