The main trend in the development of modern diesel engine manufacturign is the creation of high-powered, reliable and economical internal combustion engines (ICE), which are widely used in various industries, including mining machinery. The application of the methods of gas-thermal and gas-plasma coating for obtaining wear-resistant layers on piston rings for large internal combustion engines of quarry transport – diesel locomotives and dump trucks- is considered. It is shown that the abrasive-jet machining of base coat is widely used as a preparatory operation before coating process, and the roughness of the working surface of the rings after abrasive-jet machining has a significant impact on the adhesion strength of the coating with the base material. The selection of the surface roughness and the conditions of abrasive-jet machining for increasing the coating adhesion strength to the base coat significantly determines both the thickness of the coating and the reliability of the part itself. The aim of the paper is to investigate the dependence of the adhesion strength of a gas-thermal wear-resistant coating of piston rings of large engines of quarry transport, including dump trucks and diesel locomotives, from the roughness of the working surface after abrasive-jet machining, which in turn depends on its modes (distance to the nozzle exit section, the number of passes, the working air pressure, the shot change rate). The working surface adhesion strength of piston rings with diameter of 210 mm coated with molybdenum and steel wire composition was investigated by the twisting angle at which the coating peeled. It is shown that the roughness providing a twist angle greater than 35° should be more than 22 μm, which does not cause coating peeling off. Modes of abrasive-jet machining providing the specified values of roughness: working air pressure is 0.4 MPa, distance to the nozzle exit section is 110 mm, the number of passes is 2, and the shot changes after processing 40 mandrels.

Simulation of diesel engine energy conversion processes
- Authors:
- A. S. Afanasev
- A. A. Tretyakov
In order to keep diesel engines in good working order the troubleshooting methods shall be improved. For their further improvement by parameters of associated processes a need has arisen to develop a diesel engine troubleshooting method based on time parameters of operating cycle. For such method to be developed a computational experiment involving simulation of diesel engine energy conversion processes has been carried out. The simulation was based on the basic mathematical model of reciprocating internal combustion engines, representing a closed system of equations and relationships. The said model has been supplemented with the engine torque dynamics taking into account the current values of in-cylinder processes with different amounts of fuel injected, including zero feed. The torque values obtained by the in-cylinder pressure conversion does not account for mechanical losses, which is why the base simulation program has been supplemented with calculations for the friction and pumping forces. In order to determine the indicator diagram of idle cylinder a transition to zero fuel feed mode and exclusion of the combustion process from calculation have been provisioned.

Reserch of modernized perforator-hammer for drifting special roadway the underground mines «Metrostroy»
- Authors:
- D. A. Yungmeister
The article describes the design of modernized hammer-perforators for tunnel complexes for construction of auxiliary mine workings of «Metrostroi», St Petersburg, protected by patents. The article deals with assembly variants of the executive device of percussion type for breaking faces of complicated structure. Particular attention is paid to hammers working in the mode of the «counter-shearing» accomplished by dual jackhammers. The results of experimental tests to determine pike penetration into rock array for different values of rock hardness and pressing force. It is noted that the proposed solution replaces manual labor, reduces working cycle time.

Principles of an automatic control system of ventilation creation the kuznetsovsky railway tunnel
- Authors:
- S. G. Gendler

For effective ventilation Kuznetsovsky railway tunnel the longitudinal scheme of ventilation based on use of jet fans is offered. It is shown that use of the offered scheme of ventilation at influence of natural draft and piston effect of trains is impossible without an automatic control system of ventilation (ACSV). The principles of work ACSV taking into consideration natural and operational factors are proved.

- Authors:
- V. A. Pleskunov
In paper the technique of definition of aerodynamic resistance of the train, a being main component of a piston pressure is resulted. The urgency of the given theme is caused by essential influence of a piston pressure on distribution of fresh air on a tunnel and accordingly on safe operation of railway tunnels.

Peculiarities of structure and comparative analysis of oil-and-gas basins in the Pacific segment of lithosphere
- Authors:
- V. B. Archegov
Comparative analysis was carried out for oil-and-gas-bearing basins of young and oldland platforms of the Pacific segment. Previously the same kind of analysis had been realized for the Atlantic segment of lithosphere. Obtained results confirm the unique geological structure and oil-and-gas capacity of Siberian platform, by these features it differs from all other cratons in the whole world.

Modern problems in regional monitoring оf underground waters
- Authors:
- V. A. Kiryukhin
- L. P. Norova
The new situation with the carrying out of monitoring of underground waters on regional level was mainly caused by two reasons: 1) new regulations on the preservation of the environment were approved; the present water Regulations are being renewed; 2) studying of regime-forming factors of underground waters (geological, cosmic, climatic, biological, hydrological and technogenic) testify to the urgent necessity of introducing certain amendments into the system and maintainance of monitoring of underground waters.

Mineral springs of South-Eastern Transbaikalia
- Authors:
- N. I. Tolstikhin
- N. A. Marinov
In Soviet times, numerous geological, exploration, hydrogeological and other parties working in South-Eastern Transbaikalia described many mineral springs. Some of them are of great interest both in their original composition and in the conditions of the release and formation of mineral waters. This brief review is intended to familiarize the reader with this new data on the mineral waters of South-Eastern Transbaikalia. Klinsky mineral spring (Klinovsky mineral spring). Mineral water comes out at the base of the slope of the right ravine of the Klin River valley 1 km north of the settlement of Klin. This slope of the ravine faces the southeast. Jurassic and Quaternary sedimentary deposits, as well as igneous rocks, participate in the geological structure of the spring's vicinity. The section of the Upper and Middle, and partly the Lower Jurassic, is presented schematically (from top to bottom).
