Recent scientific research on electrothermal metallurgical processes
- Authors:

A wide range of industrial metallurgical heating and melting processes are carried out using electrothermal technologies. The application of electrothermal processes offers many advantages from technological, ecological and economical point of view. Although the technology level of the electro heating and melting installations and processes used in the industry today is very high, there are still potentials for improvement and optimization due to the increasing complexity of the applications and the strong requirements regarding the performance and quality of the products but also regarding the reduction of time and costs for the development of new processes and technologies. In this paper recent applications and future development trends for efficient heating and melting by electrothermal technologies in metallurgical processes are described along selected examples like induction heating for forging or rolling of billets, heat treatment of strips and plates, press-hardening processes, induction surface hardening of complex geometries, induction welding as well as induction melting processes.

Impact of the load curve on losses In the power supply network of the company
- Authors:

In the recent years, the researchers and experts in the field of energetics often mention in their publications a need to reduce power transmission losses. Among different ways to accomplish this goal the method of the company load leveling stands out due to its simplicity, accessibility and efficiency. The paper proposes a new assessment factor for additional power losses in distribution network. It is known that dispersion of the load curve correlates with the amount of power losses, which is why the proposed factor is put in a position of dependency on the shape of the load curve of the company. It is demonstrated that the proposed factor can help to identify without any strain a need in technical measures for levelling the load curve of the company and to assess efficiency thereof.

The depth estimation of 2D conductive isometrical bodies by singular points at the tipper frequency characteristic

The relation between parameters of 2D anomaly body and features of vertical sections of tipper amplitude are considered in this paper. According to investigations the depth of center, top and bottom of conductive body is connected with geometrical distance between two symmetrically located positive extremes in tipper pseudo-sections. In addition the tipper amplitude in extremes decreases on account of increasing depth of anomalous body. The described regularities can be used for MT projects planning and quantitative estimation of anomalous body parameters using tipper pseudo-section constructed from field data.
