Ecologist's day
Abstract
Since 2007, every year on June 5, Russia celebrates Ecologist's Day. Another significant date was set on the same day – World Environment Day. This holiday was established in 1972 at the initiative of the UN General Assembly to “draw public attention to the need to preserve and improve the environment. It is interesting that the German explorer Baron Alexander von Humboldt is called the father of ecology. He was the first to try to establish the laws of interaction in the environment. Vladimir Vernadsky is considered the first Russian ecologist. He created the doctrine of the biosphere – the interconnection of all the ecosystems. The introduction of Ecologist Day in Russia emphasizes the importance of the professional activities of environmental organizations at all levels, non-governmental environmental associations and everyone who strives to preserve nature and the environment. Environmental protection issues are a priority in the political, economic and social life of the state, being one of the tasks of national security.
