Optimal energy windows of gamma-ray scintillation spectrometer
Abstract
Gamma‑spectrometry is increasingly used in the testing of uranium‑thorium ores. It is based on measurements of pulse count rate in the optimal for uranium and thorium areas of the gamma‑radiation spectrum. One of the main conditions ensuring high sampling accuracy is the correct choice of the gamma‑spectrometer energy windows. This question arises most acutely when creating spectrometric equipment with a small size of scintillators due to the low pulse count rate in the narrow energy windows usually recommended in the literature.
