It is known that dissolved salts change the vapor pressure saturating the space above the liquid. There is no data in the literature on changes in mercury vapor density over amalgams. However, this phenomenon is of interest, since amalgams can occur on the electrodes of a number of gas-discharge devices, affecting the density of mercury vapor, on which the operation of the device depends...
