Seismic studies of carbonatite massifs in the Baltic Shield

Article preview

The study of the geological structure of carbonatite massifs is a rather difficult task due to their very complex structure.

Application of sonicolocation for lithologic mapping of bottom sediments

Article preview

In recent years to solve a variety of geological and engineering-geological problems in the water areas of seas and reservoirs attract sounding and seismic methods of exploration. They are mainly used to solve structural problems, but with the help of sound waves can be determined by the nature of reflected signals in some varieties of bottom sediments. ...

About the possibility of using industrial currents in geological mapping and prospecting for ore deposits

Article preview

At present, there is a large number of various electrical exploration methods for prospecting for mineral deposits, both on A.C. and D.C. All of them, with the exception of natural-field methods, “radiokip” and telluric currents, are based on the use of special current generators and receiving measuring equipment that records the secondary electromagnetic field or the potential difference created by these current generators between any points on the earth's surface or in mine workings.

On the integration of detailed gravity surveying with microseismic surveying in geological mapping

Article preview

During geological mapping of ore districts at large scales (1:50,000, 1:25,000 and larger), detailed gravity surveying is widely used, which makes it possible to identify many features of the geological structure of bedrock overlain by unconsolidated sediments.

Experience in the application of seismic exploration in conjunction with electrical exploration for prospecting sulfide ore bodies

Article preview

As is known, electrical exploration methods identify well-conducting objects, which can be both sulfide bodies and graphitized zones or zones of tectonic faults. While the latter can often be identified using amplitude and phase components of the eletromagnetic field during dipole profiling, it is still impossible to separate anomalies associated with sulfide ores from those associated withgraphitized zonesby means of electrical exploration.
