Efficiency of high-precision aeromagnetic surveys in geological mapping of the platform cover

Article preview

With the introduction of highly sensitive quantum magnetometers into the practice of aeromagnetic survey, the range of problems solved with the use of this economical and mobile method has sharply expanded. In particular, the first aerial surveys with this equipment, carried out in platform regions, showed that within the sedimentary cover, previously considered practically non-magnetic, lie some horizons of terrigenous rocks, creating magnetic anomalies AT, the amplitude of which is several nanotesla.

Determination of the position in the section of linear anticlinal folds vaults by ΔT anomalies

Article preview

Folded structures, including anticlines, are revealed by magnetic imaging due to the presence of magnetic marking horizons or strata in them. It is quite common to find anticlinal folds, in the section of which there is only one such horizon.

Analytical method of interpreting magnetic anomalies of a horizontal plate at inclined magnetization

Article preview

Anomalies characteristic of the horizontal plate are most often observed in platform regions. Their sources are usually relatively low thicknesses of terrigenous (sometimes volcanogenic) rocks, the distribution of which in the plan is limited by discontinuities or zones of sharp facies transitions ...

Calculation of power and depth of magnetic rocks in the vault of linear anticlinal folds from dT anomalies

Article preview

The introduction of high-precision quantum magnetometers into practice has significantly expanded the range of tasks for which magnetic reconnaissance is used. Large volumes of aeromagnetic surveys are performed, in particular, to identify fold structures in sedimentary strata of platforms and geosynclinal areas in connection with the search for oil and gas ...

Geological reasons for the difference of magnetic fields of the dome-shaped structures of the Allarechensk ore district

Article preview

The structural plan of the Precambrian is characterized by a wide development of the so-called dome-like structures - gneiss-migmatite domes, in the central parts of which the most intensively granitized rocks are exposed. When mapping such structures in recent years widely and successfully used materials of airborne and ground magnetic surveys. ...

Mapping of the Lower and Upper Cretaceous boundary in the mountainous Crimea by ground magnetic imaging

Article preview

Detailed geologic mapping of sedimentary rock strata based on ground magnetic survey data and solution of structural problems in the areas of their development is sharply limited until now. This is explained by the usually very low magnetization of sedimentary formations, their weak differentiation by magnetic properties and gentle bedding, which is characteristic of the territory under consideration. ...

Determination of magnetization direction and geometrical parameters of depth-limited formations by magnetic field

Article preview

When conducting magnetic surveys, anomalies are often revealed, the nature of which quite clearly reflects the influence of the lower boundary of magnetized bodies of formation form. The use of anomalous magnetic roll to estimate the possible dip distribution of such bodies and to determine the dip angle may be important in prospecting and exploration of many ore deposits, solving various structural problems.

Use of magnetic survey data in determining the dip angles of arbitrarily magnetized formation bodies

Article preview

The specificity of the problem under consideration is that the analytical expressions of the Za and ∆T fields include not the dip angles themselves, but some auxiliary angles (respectively, v and e), which depend not only on the direction and dip angle, but also on the inclination of the magnetization vector and the azimuth of the formation strike.
