Calculation of power and depth of magnetic rocks in the vault of linear anticlinal folds from dT anomalies

Article preview

The introduction of high-precision quantum magnetometers into practice has significantly expanded the range of tasks for which magnetic reconnaissance is used. Large volumes of aeromagnetic surveys are performed, in particular, to identify fold structures in sedimentary strata of platforms and geosynclinal areas in connection with the search for oil and gas ...

Mapping of the Lower and Upper Cretaceous boundary in the mountainous Crimea by ground magnetic imaging

Article preview

Detailed geologic mapping of sedimentary rock strata based on ground magnetic survey data and solution of structural problems in the areas of their development is sharply limited until now. This is explained by the usually very low magnetization of sedimentary formations, their weak differentiation by magnetic properties and gentle bedding, which is characteristic of the territory under consideration. ...

Uranium in metamorphic rocks of the northwestern part of the Kola Peninsula

Article preview

In recent years, interest in studying the chemical composition of metamorphic and ultrametamorphic rocks of ancient shields as possible analogs of the substance of deep zones of the Earth's crust has increased. Special attention of researchers is attracted by the distribution of radioactive elements in these rocks in connection with the problems of the thermal regime of the Earth's crust, the evolution of the material composition of rocks in the course of their geological development, the determination of the primary nature of metamorphic strata.

Possibilities of gamma-gamma logging at copper-nickel deposits

Article preview

Significant volumes of drilling for prospecting and exploration of copper-nickel ores within the Pechenga and Alla-Akka-Yarva ore fields determine constant efforts aimed at improving well logging and increasing its efficiency. By the present time the issues of complexing of standard logging methods have been solved and the possibilities of both the complex as a whole and individual methods have been clarified in identifying the main types of rocks and ores.

Partial correlation coefficients in geochemical studies

Article preview

The techniques of correlation analysis as a method of statistical processing of the results of various determinations are now increasingly widely used in geochemical studies.Correlation analysis is used to assess the nature and strength of the relationship between chemical elements in paragenetic associations. For this purpose, regressions between two elements are most often studied by calculating and assessing the significance of pairwise correlation coefficients r. In the geochemical interpretation of regressions, it is necessary to take into account the possibility of influence on the selected relationships of other chemical elements present in characteristic associations ...
