Analogies in the analytical description of the attraction field of a rectilinear material segment, a polygonal material plate and volume masses of a polyhedron

Article preview

Polyhedron as a universal geometric body is now widely used in exploration geophysics in modeling by gravity and magnetic anomalies of complexly arranged geological environment.

Calculation of theoretical anomalies ∆T at approximation of weakly magnetic geological objects by oblique prisms and polyhedra of general form

Article preview

Modern high-performance magnetometers and aeromagnetometers measure the absolute magnitude of the magnetic field vector. Their sensitivity is sufficient to detect anomalies ∆T , calculated in units of gamma ...

Attraction field of a two-dimensional polygonal prism of variable density

Article preview

The need to calculate the anomalous effect of irregularly shaped bodies in the process of interpretation of gravity anomalies by the selection method arises constantly. If the study is subject to strongly elongated along the strike geological structures, then usually use a flat model of interpretation, which greatly reduces the labor intensity of calculations ...

Attraction field of polyhedrons of variable density

Article preview

The theoretical field of irregularly shaped objects have to be constantly calculated in the process of interpreting gravity anomalies by the method of selection. There are enough reasons to use a body bounded by first-order surfaces as a universal element of the density model of the geologic medium during the fitting ...

Methodology of fitting geological and structural models according to a given gravity field with the help of enlarged polyhedral elements

Article preview

Most of the methods allow the interpretation of gravitational anomalies by the selection of masses without flexible connection with a priori data on their shape and density. Such an approach cannot be recognized as reasonable because of the uncertainty of the reference level and other reasons of ambiguity of the inverse problem of potential theory. In the framework of testing geologically based hypotheses about the shape and density of structures that are linked in advance to the observed anomalies, we propose, in our opinion, a more rational formulation of the problem. ...

Determination of parameters of magnetized bodies by linear programming method

Article preview

To calculate the elements of occurrence of magnetized bodies, the field Z caused by them can be approximated by the field of a set of bodies of the simplest form. In a number of cases it is expedient to choose as an elementary body a low-power layer.

Determination of geologic objects parameters from gravity anomalies by means of linear programming

Article preview

The existing methods of determining the parameters of geological objects by gravity anomalies are associated with the approximation of the original data by analytical expressions, the parameters of which are subject to determination.
