The article presents thermodynamic calculations of decomposition reactions of carbohydrates and their derivatives under the action of concentrated sulfuric acid. The conducted experiments showed the possibility of rubber decomposition with the formation of carbonaceous matter and sulfur dioxide, which is used to obtain sulfuric acid.
